An Aircraft Systems Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing various systems on an aircraft. Their work ensures the safety, reliability, and efficiency of an aircraft's operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Aircraft System Maintenance – Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, fuel, electrical, avionics, and flight control systems.
  2. Diagnostics & Troubleshooting – Identify issues using tools, sensors, and maintenance manuals.
  3. Repairs & Overhauls – Replace faulty components, repair wiring, and ensure systems function properly.
  4. Inspections & Compliance – Perform routine and scheduled inspections per FAA or other aviation regulatory guidelines.
  5. Technical Documentation – Maintain detailed records of repairs, inspections, and system updates.

Common Aircraft Systems Worked On:

  • Electrical & Avionics Systems – Wiring, lighting, navigation, and communication.
  • Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems – Landing gear, brakes, flight controls.
  • Fuel Systems – Pumps, tanks, and distribution.
  • Environmental Control Systems – Cabin pressurization, air conditioning, anti-icing.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Technical Skills – Knowledge of aircraft blueprints, schematics, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Certifications – FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license (for U.S.) or equivalent certifications.
  • Attention to Detail – High precision required for safety compliance.
  • Physical Fitness – Working in tight spaces, lifting parts, and standing for long periods.
