ADVANCE FLYING ACADEMY
The number of flight hours required for an airline pilot license depends on the type of license and country. Here’s a general breakdown:
1. Private Pilot License (PPL)
- Hours Required: 40–70 hours (varies by country)
- Purpose: First step in pilot training, allows flying for personal use but not for commercial purposes.
2. Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
- Hours Required: 150–250 hours
- Purpose: Allows pilots to fly commercially and get paid.
3. Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) (Frozen ATPL → Unfrozen ATPL)
- Frozen ATPL: Requires theoretical exams + a CPL with Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR). Flight experience varies (e.g., 200 hours for some integrated courses). Allows applying for airline jobs as a First Officer.
- Unfrozen ATPL (Full ATPL): Requires 1,500 total flight hours (FAA standard in the U.S.). After reaching this, pilots can become a Captain.
