Taking light aircraft flying lessons is a great way to start your journey as a pilot! Here’s what to expect:

Light aircraft flying lessons

1. Choose a Flight School

  • Look for a local flight school or flying club.
  • Check their fleet—common training aircraft include:
    • Cessna 152/172
    • Piper PA-28 Cherokee
    • Diamond DA20/DA40

2. Take a Discovery Flight

  • A short introductory lesson with an instructor.
  • You’ll learn the basics and even take the controls!

3. Start Flight Training

  • Ground School: Learn aerodynamics, weather, and navigation.
  • Flight Lessons: Practice takeoffs, landings, and maneuvers.
  • Solo Flight: Once you’re ready, you’ll fly alone!

4. Get Certified

  • If aiming for a Private Pilot License (PPL), you’ll need:
    • At least 40 flight hours (varies by country).
    • A written exam.
    • A check ride with an examiner.
