airplane solo flight

 ADVANCE FLYING ACADEMY

A solo flight is when a student pilot flies an airplane alone for the first time, without an instructor on board. It is a major milestone in pilot training.

Steps to a Solo Flight:

  1. Training & Preparation Complete ground school to learn flight rules, navigation, and emergency procedures. Log sufficient dual flight hours with an instructor. Practice takeoffs, landings, and maneuvers.
  2. Medical & Legal Requirements Obtain a medical certificate (varies by country). Hold a student pilot certificate or equivalent. Receive an instructor’s endorsement to solo.
  3. First Solo Flight Usually consists of 2-3 takeoffs and landings in the airport traffic pattern. The instructor supervises from the ground. After completion, pilots often get a solo certificate or a traditional "shirt tail cut" ceremony.
  4. Post-Solo Training Continue with cross-country flights and advanced maneuvers. Work towards a Private Pilot License (PPL) or further certifications.
